Forever Come What May

You’re stardust and delight
Tossing magic left and right
Leaving those in your wake
With minds swirling to create
Hearts on the brink of break
Soon you’ll be gone
Just a memory forlorn
Forever come what may
You’re destined in my heart to stay
Existing in a haze
Reflecting on days
You hung as the moon
Bathing cells in stars
Liberating minds from steel bars
Then you cast the net out to sea
Dispersing memories of how it used to be
The moon continues to hang overhead
The tide forever left to tread
Forever come what may
You’re destined in my heart to stay
Bittersweet torment of what remains out of sight
The present becomes an eternal plight
To survive in spite
I gaze towards stars
But our story rains like ash from the sky
The ghost of us crashes against my feet
On moonlit waves carrying sorrow and defeat
You remain a mirage at bay
Leaving a weary heart in eternal dismay
Drifting through life aimlessly
Hoping to forget this vacancy
Of what will no longer be, you and me
Forever come what may
You’re destined in my heart to stay
(This was written out of heartbreak. The “you” at the end isn’t referencing a human. It’s Democracy.)
